Gold Mercury International Mourns the Passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan, Gold Mercury Award Laureate 1982.
The Aga Khan, a spiritual leader and philanthropist, has died aged 88.
Gold Mercury International is deeply saddened by the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan, who died in Lisbon on 4th February 2025. A recipient of the Gold Mercury Award in 1982, Prince Karim Aga Khan was recognised for his extraordinary contributions to global governance, cultural development, and humanitarian progress.
As the 49th Imam of the Ismaili Muslim community, he dedicated his life to advancing education, healthcare, and economic development across the world. Through the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), he spearheaded initiatives that have transformed the lives of millions, promoting sustainability, ethical leadership, and cross-cultural understanding.
Gold Mercury International extends its deepest condolences to his family, the global Ismaili community, and all those touched by his extraordinary vision and leadership.
